Hans Zimmer joins the composer team for Blade Runner 2049

Blade Runner 2049 has added composers Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch to write additional music for the film, Film Music Reporter has noted.

The film’s director Denis Villeneuve revealed the news in an interview with Studio Cine Live. Fans of the original score need not fear though, Villeneuve also confirmed that his frequent musical collaborator and original composer, Jóhann Jóhannsson, was still involved in the project.

As FACT points out, Wallfisch is somewhat of a protege to Zimmer.

Zimmer and Wallfisch recently worked together on the score for Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk. They also worked on last year’s Oscar-nominated Hidden Figures.

Blade Runner 2049 is in cinemas at the start of October. Watch a trailer for the film in the player above.
