Oneohtrix Point Never is collaborating with David Byrne and Shabazz Palaces

According to the producer’s latest Reddit AMA

Producer Oneohtrix Point Never took to Reddit yesterday (15 August) to answer questions in an AMA, during which he detailed his upcoming collaboration with David Byrne, revealed that he’s working with Ishmael Butler from Shabazz Palaces on new material, and that he apparently has a fake band with Arca called Electronic Zaddy.

In May, Byrne revealed that he’s been collaborating with Lopatin for his upcoming solo album which will be released “early next year”. On his Reddit AMA, Lopatin detailed, “Working with david was one of the true highlights of my life i have to say. he was working on his solo album (his first in a very long time) and he invited me to have a listen.”

“Then i started tinkering around on a few pre-existing songs. then i said, ok why don’t we make one from scratch and we made a couple. and you’ll hear them very soon,” he continued.

On further collaborations, the producer said, “i have been working collaboratively a lot more lately”, and “me and ish from shabazz are working on stuff”. He later admitted that one of some of his favourite albums are Shabazz Palaces’ records Quazarz: Born on a Gangster Star and Quazarz vs. The Jealous Machines.

Furthermore, Lopatin has a new LP on the way: “LP8 is untitled. you’ll hear it ASAP. i’m not done writing it so hard to say.”

When asked about his thoughts on the latest series of David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, the artist said, “love it. summation of DL’s entire career. cant get enough tbh. could do without the band bits at the end. other than the guys dressed up old timey that sang a country ballad. i liked that”.
