Fatima Al Qadiri and Visionist step up for audiovisual shows at Convergence

Convergence returns for its fifth edition on 9 March to 4 April, and it’ll host its programme across the Barbican, Heaven and Village Underground in London.

The spring festival explores the intersection of digital culture, art and music. A number of audiovisual shows have been added to the programme, including performances helmed by Visionist with filmmaker Pedro Maiai, and Ben Frost with Marcel Weber. Fatima Al Qadiri will showcase her audiovisual piece Ja7eem with Simian Mobile Disco and Deep Throat Choir, featuring Emmanuel Baird.

Furthermore, actress and singer Charlotte Gainsbourg has been added to the line-up, along with Kamaal Williams, and John Cale with the London Contemporary Orchestra.

Artistic director Glenn Max said in a press statement, “In our 5th year, with the support of our partners, we have delivered a line-up that places the deeply personal artistic visionary within the crucible of collaborative work. With its emphasis on the visual, Convergence presents three key AV collaborations, where the visual artist is on equal ground as the composer.”
