Ben Salisbury and Geoff Barrow to release Annihilation score

Invada Records and Lakeshore Records are set to co-release the soundtrack to Alex Garland’s 2018 film Annihilation.

Annihilation is a sci-fi drama based on Jeff VanderMeer’s novel of the same name. Starring Natalie Portman, the film tells the tale of a biologist journeying to an environmental disaster zone to search for answers about her missing husband. The soundtrack has been scored by composers Ben Salisbury and Geoff Barrow, who’ve both previously worked with Garland on his Oscar-nominated film Ex Machina. Their compositions for the dystopian drama won the 2016 Ivor Novello award for Best Original Score.

As frequent collaborators, the two composers have previously teamed up for the soundtrack to the Black Mirror episode Men Against Fire. Their first collaboration was on Drokk: Music Inspired by Mega-City One, a soundtrack originally intended for 2012’s Dredd.

Annihilation Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is slated for release on 23 February.
