In a now-deleted Instagram post, J Hus stated that he could be facing a spell in jail.
The 23-year-old artist was stopped by police near Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, east London, on 21 June. A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said, “The occupants of the vehicle were searched and a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a knife/bladed article.”
After posting a £100,000 bond, J Hus was initially freed on bail and faced trial at Snaresbrook crown court on 20 July, during which he pleaded not guilty. The artist will now face a pre-review trial on 15 November, with a trial scheduled for 10 December.
Commenting on the situation in a now-deleted online post, he said, “I’m gonna have to do a likkle time coz I didnt have my sh!t patterned. I’ll be home soon tho. Ain’t nothing on this Earth I can’t handle but I’m just tired of making the same mistake.”
“I’ve been in the system for nearly 10 years & every two years since 2012 I’ve gone back to jail. The people that are gonna judge me know nothing about my circumstances/never experienced a sprinkle of the madness we have to go through but I only blame myself for this mistake.” We’ve reached out to a representative for comment.
In May, J Hus released the EP Big Spang. Last year, he dropped his first full-length Common Sense. It features the hit single Did You See, which Crack Magazine named as its top track of 2017.
