The former Crack Magazine cover star teams up with Yves Tumor and Ian Isiah for a melancholic homage to the late Miller.

Blood Orange, real name Dev Hynes, has dropped a remix of Smoke, a track taken from 2018 album Negro Swan. With help from Yves Tumor and Ian Isiah, the song is given a sombre tone and features direct reference to Mac Miller’s death.

Miller was both a musical collaborator and personal friend to Hynes. On the remix, Hynes vocalises his sense of grief with the lyrics “I couldn’t even prepare for the loss/What could I do but cry. RIP my boy Mac.

Miller passed away on 7 September, aged 26. Earlier this month, a toxicology report confirmed the rapper died from a mix of fentanyl and cocaine. His death has been categorised as an accidental overdose.
