News broke yesterday (19 February) that Karl Lagerfeld, the former creative director of Chanel, passed away after weeks of ill health.Β Since the news of his death, there has been an outpouring of messages commemorating his death, with the likes of Rihanna and Courtney LoveΒ all paying homage to the late German designer on social media. Colleagues and fans have been looking back over the course of Lagerfeld’s life highlighting his early friendship with Yves Saint Laurent in Paris, stints at ChloΓ©, Valentino and Fendi, and, of course, his acclaimed tenure at Chanel. However, it’s also worth remembering his output outside of fashion, including his turn in the Grand Theft Auto series.
A lesser-known moment in the designer’s creative career, Lagerfeld once made an appearance as the host of K109 The Studio radio station in GTA IV and GTA: Episodes from Liberty City. Alongside Lagerfeld’s renowned wit, listeners were entertained with the sounds of disco, funk, soul and R&B.
