Childish Gambino’s Guava Island project could be landing soon.

Advertisements for the project have appeared on Spotify, and it reads “Saturday Night | April 13”, which coincides with the artist’s headline slot at Coachella. The ad links to the RapCaviar Spotify playlist, which features tracks from the late Nipsey Hussle, Offset, 21 Savage, Gunna, Future, Metro Boomin and more.

The format of Guava Island isn’t known. News of the project was first reported in August 2018, when images of Donald Glover and Rihanna on set in Cuba circulated online. A two-minute trailer for Guava Island premiered at Glover’s Pharos Festival in New Zealand back in November. Described as an action movie, the clip features the two artists playing the role of lovers and partners in crime.

However, earlier this year, cinematographer and collaborator Christian Sprenger listed Guava as a visual album on his CV, made public via his Artistry profile. We’ve reached out to Sprenger and Glover for comment.

In February, composer Ludwig Göransson told Extra that he’d been “working closely with Donald for a little while”. In the same interview, mastering engineer Mike Bozzi said, “We’ve been in the studio working on new songs, and [Glover’s] got another vision that he’s working out. I can’t tell you when it’s coming out but something big is coming.”
