Hear Beyoncé as Nala in the new Lion King trailer

The upcoming Lion King remake has finally dropped a Beyoncé-focused teaser.

Beyoncé takes centre stage in a new Lion King trailer, in which she voices the character Nala. The star can be heard saying, “Simba, you have to take your place as King. We need you. Come home.” Watch the clip via the player above.

Queen Bey stars alongside Donald Glover – cast in the lead role of Simba – in the live action remake. News of Beyoncé voicing the character of Nala was first reported in November 2017. Since, it’s been revealed that B is also the executive producer of the soundtrack, and she’ll be recording a song with Elton John – who partially wrote the soundtrack for the original 1994 animation.

Co-star Billy Eichner, who plays Timon, said on Crooked Media’s Keep It podcast in March, “I’ve heard her sing Can You Feel the Love Tonight? with Donald Glover and I’m telling you, it’s fucking good.”

“I liked it when Elton John sang it. I love Elton John,” he added. “I don’t want to give too much away about that, they do not want us talking about it. I will just say that honestly, it made me cry and I was not expecting that.”

The Lion King remake is out on 19 July.
