Nike’s new Air Max 90 sneaker is inspired by the world of sampling

Nike have today unveiled the Air Max 90 Side A/ Side B pack – a limited edition sneaker pack with colour-ways and subtle design motifs lifted from 9 different previous shoes, almost 30 years after its first release.

Inspired by record-collecting and sampling, the launch celebrates the cultural and musical relevance the trainer has had over the years – from foundational US hip-hop to London UKG raves.

Like all good sample-based creations, the shoes come with full credits. The sole is decorated with a handwritten track-list breaking down each previous iteration that’s been incorporated. Three rising London DJs and producers have modelled the trainer for Nike. Idle Hands producer and Crack Mix alumni Parris wears side B while More Time Records boss Ahadadream and London Rinse FM selector Oh Annie Oh (pictured) wear side A.
