The Hamburg club has announced a new venture for its upper floor.
Golden Pudel has revealed plans to open a new space, called Barboncino Zwölphi, for a few days in July before officially launching in August. Located on the upper floor, the non-clubbing space will run during the daytime with a programme of concerts, workshops and readings. According to Die Welt, there will be a daily changing food menu provided by the local refugee charity Chickpeace.
The cultural hub and events space was designed with help from architect Jesko Fezer, of the University of Fine Arts Hamburg, and his students. The new space marks a full reopening of the Golden Pudel which, in 2016, was partially burnt down in a fire. The revered club announced its return in August 2017, and in 2018 it became protected as “a site of cultural worth“. In the past, the venue has been threatened with closure due to real estate investments and city planning. Now, it continues to be run by the Golden Pudel Foundation.
The club has helped several artists forge careers as DJs, including former Crack Magazine cover star Helena Hauff. Upcoming events on the programme feature nights with Marcel Dettmann, Phuong-Dan and more.
