The singer has enlisted a number of artists for a remix album.
Ryuichi Sakamoto will appear on the upcoming release, having remodelled the track Watasya from Hajime’s 2018 album Amami Shima-Uta. A remix from the late Ras G will also feature on the LP, along with Tim Hecker’s remix of Nagakumo-Bushi. Dorian Concept rounds out the remix release, along with Tokyo-born ambient musician Chihei Hatakeyama. Grammy nominee Hajime will release Hajime-Uta Yūgen Chitose Hajime Amami Shima-Uta Remix on 27 November via Augusta Records.
Hajime is from the southwestern island Amami Ōshima, and sings in the traditional style particular to the region called Amami shima uta.
Recently, Sakamoto announced his live album TWO. The live recording, performed in collaboration with Alva Noto, is taken from the duo’s 2018 performance at Sydney Opera House.
