Fans spent over $2 million more last Friday than they did on 20 March.

Fans spent $7.1 million on Bandcamp last Friday (1 May) during the second ‘Bandcamp day’ of the year. Following the decision to waive their handling fees for 24 hours in March, in April the platform announced they would do the same on the first Friday of each month through to July. On 20 March fans spent $4.3 million on music and merch, which Bandcamp reported was 15x the usual amount spent on the platform on a Friday.

The next planned fee waivers are 5 June and 3 July. Read our list of the 30 essential releases to buy on Bandcamp during the next fee waiver.
