IDLES have shared new single and video Model Village. Directed by Michel and Olivier Gondry, the video was made using hand-cut pieces of paper, arranged and filmed by Michel in LA and animated by Olivier in Paris.

Model Village is taken from IDLES upcoming third album Ultra Mono, due for release on 25 September via Partisan Records. Speaking about the track, frontman Joe Talbot said, “I hated growing up in a city that was really a town that was really a fishbowl. I left as soon as I could, only to realize the fishbowl didn’t exist…just the fish, and they’re everywhere.”

The new music video was made in association with WePresent. The platform premiered the visual this evening alongside interviews with the band and both directors. Speaking to WePresent Michel Gondry said, “Basically, in the first part we try to illustrate the lyrics as close as possible, to create the world, and then in the second half… they go to the moon.”

Model Village follows IDLES’ recent singles Mr Motivator, Grounds and A Hymn. Watch the video in the player above and read our cover story with IDLES now.
