Join Jeremy Deller, Martine Rose, Trevor Jackson and Simon Reynolds for a conversation about 90s rave

Celebrated British artist Jeremy Deller, fashion designer Martine Rose, graphic designer and DJ Trevor Jackson and music author Simon Reynolds met digitally for a discussion about British ’90s rave culture and its legacy.

The Spirit of Rave is organised by London’s Design Museum in support of their electronic music exhibition. The museum has closed its doors due to the nationwide lockdown but will unite these iconic British creatives to explore some of the key themes.

On the event description, the museum writes, “Rave was a defining counterculture movement in Britain. Responding to the social, political and economic conditions of the 1980s and 90s, it joyfully disregarded design convention from cut-n-paste techniques to neon colours and brash imagery.”

Those who have been to the Design Museum’s exhibition already might have spotted Crack Magazine’s Aphex Twin cover on a display of visuals from the legendary artist.

We also visited the museum last year, for a look round the Mars exhibition with electronic music pioneer Jeff Mills. Watch that video below.

Listen and watch The Spirit of Rave discussion on Thursday 12 November at 19.00. More info and tickets here.
