“Don’t have a good pic cuz it hurts too much”
Grimes has a new tattoo. The artist – real name Claire Boucher – unveiled the new piece of intricate body art on Instagram over the weekend (11 April). The full back piece was done by tattoo artist Tweakt. It was designed in collaboration with LA-based multi-disciplinary artist Nusi Quero and their “alien computer brain.”
“Don’t have a good pic cuz it hurts too much and I need to sleep haha, and it’ll be red for a few wks , but gna be beautiful alien scars,” Grimes captioned her Instagram post. Once fully healed, the tattoo will be in white ink.

After revealing her new ink, Grimes took to Instagram stories to share a selection of computer-generation sketches of the final design. Grimes also reposted Quero’s interpretation of the tattoo.
“Last night was an amazing experience, @tweakt and I collaborated on a tattoo for @grimes entire back, a courageous and beautiful decision and Talisman she will carry with her from here forward, an armor, a spectral field that will affect and protect her in ways unknown but no doubt with a benevolence of some kind,” Quero wrote.
Back in January, Grimes took part in a live streamed YouTube Q&A and answered a round of questions from her fans. During the event, Grimes revealed that she was finishing up the vocals and mixes for her next album. She later discussed a collaboration that she was working on with Caroline Polachek, as well as a forthcoming book.
