The final trailer for Netflix’s new anime series Yasuke is here. The six-part series – which was first teased back in 2018 – was created and directed by LeSean Thomas (The Boondocks) and follows the story of a samurai warrior of African descent in an alternate version of feudal Japan.

Japanese studio MAPPA is behind Yasuke’s animation, while its main character is voiced by LaKeith Stanfield of Atlanta and Get Out fame. Stanfield was recently nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 2021 Oscars for his role in Judas and the Black Messiah

Last week, Flying Lotus shared two new tracks from the series’ soundtrack. The artist released the Thundercat collaboration Black Gold, and Between Memories featuring Niki Randa. He also shared the instrumental versions.

Yasuke premieres on 29 April via Netflix. Watch the new trailer below.
