Texas rapper Lil Loaded – real name Dashawn Robertson – has died. Ashkan Mehryari, an attorney for Lil Loaded, confirmed the news to Billboard on 31 May. Mehryari also told Dallas Morning News: “He had a very bright and promising music career ahead of him.” Lil Loaded’s death comes days after his viral hit 6locc 6a6y was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Lil Loaded was arrested in November 2020 for a murder charge related to the October shooting of his 18-year-old friend Khalia Walker. On 25 October, police received calls reporting a shooting at Robertson’s home in southwestern Dallas’ The Woods neighbourhood. Khalia was shot in the torso and was driven to a nearby hospital by the time police arrived. The 18-year-old died two hours later at Methodist Charlton Medical Center.

The rapper turned himself in to police on 9 November after an arrest warrant was issued for him. In February, he was indicted on one charge of manslaughter.

Robertson was born in San Bernardino, California, and later moved to Dallas. He started rapping at 18, and was best known for the track 6locc 6a6y. The official video has over 29 million views on YouTube.
