The country star is bowing out of the nomination.
Dolly Parton has shared a statement online declining her Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination. Whilst the singer-songwriter has said she feels “extremely flattered and grateful” for the nomination, she states that she doesn’t feel she has earned the right.
“I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out,” she writes. “I do hope that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will understand and be willing to to consider me again – if I’m worthy.”
She adds: “This has, however, inspired me to put out a hopefully great rock ‘n’ roll album at some point in the future, which I have always wanted to do!” Read the full statement below.

This year’s nominees include Eminem, Beck, Kate Bush, Fela Kuti and A Tribe Called Quest. Voting opened on 2 Feb and runs until 29 April. You can vote at the museum in Ohio or via the Rock Hall’s website.
