The eight-track release is raising funds for Calais Appeal.
London collective Queer House Party has shared their debut release spanning UK garage, house, breaks, techno and more. The EP features contributions from I.Jordan, Fiyahdred, Shauna and Queer House Party member Passer. There’s also a collaborative track from DJ Soyboi and Salt Pillar plus dance cuts from J. Aria, Ms. G and Panooc.
All proceeds from Now That’s What I Call QHP will be donated to Calais Appeal, a joint fundraising platform for several grassroots groups who are supporting refugees in Calais. “Each organisation provides an essential service to refugees and displaced people in and around Calais,” the Queer House Party team shared in a statement alongside their release. “In January 2022, funding was pulled for these organisations by Choose Love, and they’ve formed an emergency coalition in order to drum up support for their vital work.”
Queer House Party, the self-described “DJ collective, community platform and award-winning queer party that’s accessible, radical, DIY and punk AF” started up in 2020. Throughout the pandemic they hosted online parties platforming a wide range of queer DJs, artists and performers. Since venues and clubs re-opened, the collective has also held in person events at Dalston Superstore and hosted a stage at the inaugural Body Movements festival last summer.
