The former Crack Magazine cover star took to Twitter yesterday (12 September) to respond to a series of questions from her fans.

In the comments, Grimes revealed that we can expect something new from her on 30 September and that her next album is finished – she’s just “waiting on approvals for [the] next single and mixing”. In response to a follow-up question asking whether the new record – called Book 1 according to an interview with her earlier in the year – is still about AI lesbianism, Grimes said: “it’s about militarised AI courtesans among other things”. When asked if she plans to release anything similar aesthetically to previous single Shingami Eyes, Grimes wrote: “Oh boy. Wait for Sept 30”. She followed this up with the hint, “Jennie taught me many lessons.” – referring to Jennie from Blackpink. The pair were previously seen together hanging out at SpaceX in 2021 which led to collaboration rumours. The K-pop star featured in the video for Shingami Eyes.

In response to a question about Sci-Fi, a forthcoming collaborative track with the Weeknd, she said its release “depends on Abel and Columbia”. Grimes also added that earlier in the year she had an “intense medical situation” and is grateful for the delay on the release as she’s “just getting back to health”.

Elsewhere, Grimes spoke about her plans once her commitments with current label Columbia comes to an end. “[Going to] fulfil my Columbia commitments then go rogue and just release as I please [sic],” she wrote. Grimes also revealed that she plans to write manuscripts following her work with the label.

The series of comments were posted underneath a photo of Grimes with Elon Musk. In response to a fan replying “I admire your courage!” to the post, Grimes added that she has “lost every last available fuck in my body via my ten thousand cancellations over the past few years.”
