Bandcamp introduces playlists on mobile app

Users can now build playlists from the music already in their collection through the Bandcamp app.

Bandcamp has launched playlist functionality on its mobile app as part of a new update for Android and iOS. The new function will allow users to sort their existing collection of previously purchased tracks into playlists. Users can download playlists for offline listening, with more playlist features currently in the works according to the announcement post shared by the Bandcamp team. The function is currently not available to desktop users.

Bandcamp was acquired by Epic Games in April 2022. In a statement, the company shared plans for the streaming service following the acquisition:

“…behind the scenes we’re working with Epic to… push development forward across Bandcamp, from basics like our album pages, mobile apps, merch tools, payment system, and search and discovery features, to newer initiatives like our vinyl pressing and live streaming services.”

A tempo slider was introduced by Bandcamp in January allowing desktop users to adjust the tempo of a song before purchasing, with the focus on aiding DJs.

Our audio platform partnered with Bandcamp in 2020 on a series of mixes built entirely from tracks which are buyable on the platform. Revisit those mixes here and tune into a conversation with Bandcamp shared as part of our Supporters Week digital festival below.
