The Lyon-based festival will host its celebratory 20th anniversary gathering from 17-21 May.

Nuits Sonores is turning 20 this spring and marking the occasion with an extensive musical programme featuring festival favourites, such as Laurent Garnier and Ellen Allien, alongside artists including Avalon Emerson, Darkside, LSDXOXO and Tzusing, who were confirmed in the festival’s initial line-up announcement.

The likes of Florentino, Caterina Barbieri, Madam X and Commodo, Paula Tape and Skin on Skin were also confirmed in earlier waves of announcements, with a further 50 acts announced this week (21 March). Toma Kami, Sassy J, re:ni and Skee Mask are among the newest additions to the programme, which will be split between daytime events mainly at La Sucrière, with night-time proceedings staged at Old Fagor-Brandt Factories, Le Sucre and H7.

A programme of meetings, panels, workshops, performances and more will also take place over the course of the festival, as part of the Nuits Sonores Lab. Panel topics will include the impact and future of independent music journalism, and perspectives on the Ukrainian cultural scene. Workshops will teach festival-goers how to get started in field recording, how to build their own community radio stations, and more. Additionally, there’ll be a more family friendly programme dedicated to children which is still to be announced.

Crack Magazine will also host a stage at this year’s event. Elena Colombi, Shubostar and Justine Forever, who’ll perform live, will play the party – held at Le Sucre on 19 May.
