The Bristol festival has announced the activists, artists and social innovators who will be joining the programme alongside the musical line-up for this year.

Forwards Festival has revealed the key speakers heading up The Information stage. Aiming to question the role of the festival and bring discussions on current cultural issues to the forefront of the experience, this year’s line-up features housing activist Vicky Spratt in conversation with historian and BAFTA winning broadcaster David Olusoga to discuss broadcasting inequality. There’s also one for budding writers as author and LGBTIQA+ activist Munroe Bergdorf and gal-dem founder and writer Liv Little share their experiences and speak on the power of storytelling.

Elsewhere, Danny Price will delve into the politics of humour with Tiktok creators and comedians Grace Campbell and Josh Berry. Plus multi-disciplinary artist Jeremy Deller joins Johnny Banger – founder of UK-based clothing brand Sports Banger – to discuss their recently released books and much more.

Further talks and panel discussions for The Information are set to be announced in the run up to the festival. This year, The Information is also on tour and will appear at Glastonbury 2023.

Aphex Twin and Erykah Badu have previously been confirmed to headline Forwards Festival. Other artists on the bill include Bonobo, Primal Scream, Arlo Parks, Jockstrap, Leftfield, Biig Piig and Confidence Man.

Forwards Festival returns to Clifton Downs, Bristol for its second edition on 1 and 2 September. Head to the festival’s website for tickets and further information.
