MUBI GO members can watch Asteroid City, the new film from Wes Anderson, for free in UK cinemas from today (30 June).
Wes Anderson’s highly anticipated new film, Asteroid City, is out now. First announced in September 2020, the comedy-drama features a star-studded cast that includes the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Tilda Swinton, Barbie‘s Margot Robbie and more. It was released in UK cinemas last week (23 June).
The movie is Film of the Week on MUBI GO – a membership service from curated streaming service MUBI – which means members can claim a free ticket to watch the movie from today until next Thursday (6 July). Asteroid City follows the journey of a youth stargazer/space cadet convention taking place in the 1950s in a fictional desert town. The feature film has been described by MUBI’s curatorial team as one of the filmmaker’s “funniest, most moving” movies. It lands after previous Anderson titles including 2018’s Isle of Dogs and 2021’s The French Dispatch.
MUBI GO members can watch Asteroid City in cinemas as part of their subscription, which offers members one ticket to a hand-picked film per week at participating cinemas in addition to access to all films currently streaming on MUBI. The subscription is now available to use at Picturehouse Cinemas, as well as Everyman, Curzon and other participating independent cinemas UK-wide. Previous films featured recently on the MUBI GO subscription include Beau Is Afraid, Return To Seoul and Spider-man: Across the Spiderverse.
