Latvian festival Skaņu Mežs to host 21st edition next month

Amnesia Scanner will headline the festival’s next chapter, slated for 6-8 October.

Riga’s Skaņu Mežs is turning 21 next month and inviting the likes of Joe Morris, Raven Chacon, Coby Sey, Daniel Blumberg, Max Eilbacher, Evita Manji and Debit along for the celebrations. Amnesia Scanner will headline the festival, which will also include an opening event on 30 September at venue Tu Jau Zini Kur.

Elsewhere, Berlin-based sound artist and composer Maya Shenfeld and visual artist Pedro Maia will also be in attendance, performing at the festival’s opening proceedings on 30 September. South London Space Agency will host a label showcase at this event, while Danish producer Hvad will perform alongside the likes of Flowerpower, KODEK and TV Maskava

Skaņu Mežs forms part of the SHAPE+ – a Creative Europe-supported platform for innovative music and audiovisual art – network of festivals, with Shenfeld and Eilbacher among the project’s latest roster of artist. Evita Manji, meanwhile, is a former SHAPE+ artist.
