New Bristol-based queer radio station Kunt Up Music.FM set to launch early next year

Applications for show proposals and volunteer roles are open now.

A new independent radio station called Kunt Up Music.FM (abbreviated to K.U.M FM) is coming to Bristol. Announced earlier this month, the station will broadcast weekly from Thursday to Sunday and aims to shine a light on Bristol’s queer scene and creative community.

The station – which is slated to be “Bristol’s first queer independent radio” – is set to begin broadcasting from February 2024 with its programming including “carefully curated daily shows that feature underground sounds, important conversations, event shoutouts and much much more.”

K.U.M FM is currently looking for people to get involved. Applications for volunteer roles are open now with social media, promotion and production assistant positions available. The station has also shared an open call for radio show ideas and hosts. “We are looking for a diverse range of shows that are unique and creative, with a variety of genres and formats,” they wrote, “we want to showcase the amazing talent of Bristol’s queer community.” The application deadline is 16 December. Find out more below and head here to apply for volunteer roles and submit show proposals.
