The former Crack Magazine: The Collections cover star has released a new track today (17 January) via XL Recordings.
Flight FM follows the September 2023 release of archive 09-10, a five-track collective of rare, much-discussed tunes from the earlier days of the London-based producer’s career, such as GR Etiquette. He also teamed up with Overmono and Kwengface in July 2023 for Freedom 2.
The new single was written and recorded while Joy Orbison was “waiting for a lift” to last year’s Lost Village festival, a press release states. The track was road-tested “literally” on the way to the event, where it was also played during his set. Tweaked and refined in the months since its creation, and live tested further by the likes of Four Tet, its full release marks Joy O’s new music of 2024.
