Beth Gibbons and Charli xcx are up for this year’s Mercury Prize

Though there will be no ceremony this year, the winner will be announced in September.

The shortlist for the Mercury Prize 2024 has been announced, with Charli xcx’s BRAT and Beth GibbonsLives Outgrown among this year’s nominees. GhettsOn Purpose, With Purpose, Nia ArchivesSilence Is Loud, and The Last Dinner Party’s Prelude to Ecstacy also feature.

This year’s judges included Head of Music at BBC Radio 2 & 6 Music Jeff Smith, The Times’ Chief Rock & Pop Critic Will Hodgkinson and broadcasters Jamz Supernova and Sian Eleri.
