Pirate Studios to host day of free sessions and workshops for London students

Taking place at its Dalston studios on 10 October, the open day will feature live performances, industry panels, A&R listening sessions and opportunities to learn the basics of DJing.

UK-based, 24-hour music studio provider Pirate Studios has announced plans to host a free open day for London students, which will take place on 10 October at its Dalston studios.

It will be open from 12pm to 7pm, with tours of the studio spaces, beginner DJ workshops, label A&R listening sessions where music industry professionals offer their feedback on unreleased tracks and a “band blind date” event for musicians to connect with potential collaborators. The day will also feature a live performance from singer-songwriter Kaisha and more performances yet to be announced.

Having opened its first studio in 2015 in a disused police station in Bristol, Pirate has grown to host spaces in 24 UK towns and cities, while encompassing over 700 studios worldwide. The majority are open 24/7, providing access to fully equipped DJ setups, recording studios, podcasting rooms and live events space.

For those studying UK-wide, Pirate are offering students their first two hours for free. Rebecca Mason-Evans, Pirate’s Head of Brand Marketing said: “The uni years are the perfect time to start a new band or learn how to DJ, so we’re excited to give students across the UK a head start with 2 free hours in any of our studios.

“The open day in London reflects the spirit of the Pirate Community; it’s a snapshot of the kinds of events we host all year to help artists connect and grow together,” she continued.
