Massive Attack will headline Lido on 6 June this year with a 100% battery powered event.
London’s Lido Festival has announced Massive Attack as its final headliner for its inaugural edition. It will be the band’s first London festival appearance in nine years.
The new two-weekend festival will take place at Victoria Park’s Lido Field, with Massive Attack set to play their acclaimed live show designed in collaboration between Robert Del Naja, United Visual Artists and Adam Curtis. Following their pioneering show in Bristol last summer, the band will continue their work with ACT 1.5 to decarbonise live music events with a 100% battery powered performance.
Tirzah, Air, and Yasiin Bey and The Alchemist are FORENSICS have also joined the line-up, with more acts to be announced.
“To present London’s first ever 100% battery powered festival day with a dynamic range of artists is an optimum outcome for us,” Robert Del Naja said. “History shows it’s often the combination of art and science that overcomes the greatest challenges we face, so it’s good to see LIDO take learnings from our ACT1.5 event last year and apply those technologies to where they see emissions coming from. Clean productions beginning this journey to normalisation is good news for everyone, but especially for music fans that come to festivals and the local communities that live around them.”
Presale begins at 10am GMT on Thursday 20 February, and general tickets will be on sale from 10am GMT on Friday 21 February at LIDO’s website.
