Forwards Festival announces first wave of acts for 2025

Doechii is among the headliners for this year’s edition, which will take place over August bank holiday weekend in Bristol.

Forwards Festival will return to Bristol’s Clifton Downs on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 August this year for a weekend of live music, DJ sets and discussion. Today (3 March), the festival has announced its first wave of artists, along with its headliners.

Saturday will see headline sets from Mercury Prize winners Ezra Collective, who return to the festival after performing in 2023, and Barry Can’t Swim. Confidence Man, Orbital, Mount Kimbie, Ishmael Ensemble and the Rituals Orchestra, Mermaid Chunky and more also feature on the programme.

On Sunday, Doechii will make her Bristol debut alongside co-headliners Jorja Smith and The Last Dinner Party, with Olivia Dean, Moonchild Sanelly, The Silhouettes Project and Snapped Ankles also on the bill.

Forwards will once again spotlight major social initiatives alongside the music, making space for discussion and debate on the INFORMATION stage. “The festival will also see timely debate and conversation on the INFORMATION, providing an important platform for discussion and will be featuring a host of experts, disruptors, creatives, writers and thinkers,” said Jim King, CEO, European Festivals, AEG Presents.

“Forwards is back for its fourth year, and we couldn’t be prouder,” added Tom Paine, Co-founder of Team Love. Each year it grows, evolves and delivers even more for the city of Bristol and beyond. From an international and genre-spanning music lineup to future thinking talks, initiatives and with a growing-in-popularity kids area, Forwards is the perfect day out for everyone”.
