SHAPE+ announces showcases in Almaty and Banja Luka

The shows, held in collaboration with collective ZVUK and social-cultural centre DKC Incel, will take place on 21 June.

Co-funded by the European Union and Pro Helvetia, SHAPE+ is a platform for innovative music and interdisciplinary art, bringing together forward-thinking artists to showcase their practice.

The platform has now revealed the final two of an ongoing set of five showcases it’s holding outside of the EU, both set to take place on 21 June.

DKC Incel is a community-oriented venue and social-cultural centre held by Banja Luka-based NGO UNSA Geto, which looks to bring new and innovative forms of artistic expression to the forefront. SHAPE+ will bring Milan-based electronic artist Ciro Vitiello, composer and experimental sound design artist Jungle Eko, and experimental musician and sound design artist tonota to the venue. Taking place on one of the first days of summer, the event will be held outdoors in front of the club beside a towering 132-meter-high chimney.

The other showcase will take place in collaboration with ZVUK, a collective and club night created in 2016 by DJ and producer Nazira in Kazakhstan. The collective will bring together artists Sedef Adasi, Nazira, E.T. and Mariya El to the showcase. SHAPE+ will also bring writer, singer, and performer Radio Hito, Georgian experimental electronic-acoustic duo Nasi & Alexander, and Prague-based producer and DJ Andriy K. The event will happen on Köktöbe, a hill at 1,100 meters above sea level, and one of the main landmarks of Almaty.
