The French electronic festival is back in Lyon for its 23rd edition in May.

Nuits sonores will once again take over a range of venues in the city of Lyon, France, from 13–17 May with a line-up that spans peak-time club sets, experimental live performances and immersive audiovisual presentations.

This year’s programme carries added significance, with the festival placing a clear focus on what shapes its identity: its status as an independent event.

The festival begins with a Day programme on Wednesday with sets from the likes of Anetha b2b Vel and Mac Declos b2b Ogazón, and a live performance of Heinali & Andriana-Yaroslava Saienko’s Гільдеґарда (Hildegarde). Also joining the opening day are Mala, dBridge and GEZAN.

From 10pm–5am, the Night programme continues with Von Bikräv, Gabber Eleganza b2b Yuta Umegatani present Manga Corps and more.

Thursday’s Day programme includes 999999999 (live), Skream and Benga, Craig Richards b2b Ivan Smagghe, Nikki Nair, Bogdan Raczynski, Kiss Facility and Lila Tirando a Violeta.

The Night programme features KITTIN & MCR-T, Carrier and Ben UFO.

A separate special concert at the Trinity Chapel on Thursday also welcomes Kali Malone, bringing a deeper, more meditative counterpoint to the weekend’s club intensity.

Friday’s Day programme features DJ Gigola b2b Busy P, HAAi b2b Leftfield, Djrum and gyrofield, while the Night selectors include Mochakk, OMOLOKO and DJ Travella.

Saturday’s Day programme spotlights a range of DJs including Deena Abdelwahed, before shifting into the night with GiGi FM, Sindh and Powell live.

The festival wraps on Sunday with a closing run featuring Batu and Leeza Protychenko, Sama’ Abdulhadi, Emma-Jean Thackray (live) and Dinamarca.

Alongside the music programme, Nuits sonores Lab will once again serve as the festival’s space for discussion and exchange. Its schedule brings together artists, labels, collectives, festivals, media and independent cultural thinkers, exploring current issues through talks, panels, workshops, interviews, radio sessions and masterclasses, with a special focus on the connections and culture that shape our independence.
