The Portuguese electronic music festival returns to Braga from 22–25 October 2026.
Semibreve has unveiled the first artists confirmed for its 16th edition, taking place across multiple venues in Braga this October with a programme spanning live performances, exhibitions, talks, screenings and workshops.
Among the first projects announced is Saffron on Grey, a collaboration between Austrian guitarist and musician Christian Fennesz and composer-conductor Oscar Jockel. Following its debut earlier this year at the Berliner Philharmoniker, the performance will receive its second presentation at the festival, featuring a 12-piece ensemble and a custom lighting set-up.
The programme also includes a new audiovisual work from Pakistani-American composer Qasim Naqvi, known for his work with Dawn of Midi. His performance will combine modular synthesiser compositions with live video feedback by Steven Wendt.
Brooklyn-based artist TYGAPAW is set to perform music from a forthcoming Tresor Records release exploring Black queer and trans identity through industrial textures, techno and dancehall influences. French-Tunisian producer Azu Tiwaline will also appear with material developed alongside Cinna Peyghamy, drawing on a blend of dub culture, techno and Berber music.
Composer, producer and sound designer Sam Slater will bring his new work Lunng to Braga alongside local collaborators and visual contributions from stage and lighting designer Theresa Baumgartner. Berlin-based artist PYUR will also present a new audiovisual performance centred on her forthcoming album Mass Oneiria, created in collaboration with visual artist Tarik Barri.
Elsewhere, Swiss-French sound artist Noémi Büchi will present material from her latest release Exuvie, accompanied by visuals from Brigitte Faessler, while Swedish producer Malcolm Pardon and visual artist Gustaf Broms will debut a new live interpretation of Pardon’s album Flesh and Bones.
Portuguese composer João Carlos Pinto rounds out the first announcement with a new immersive production developed following a residency at Casa da Música in Porto.
Alongside the performance programme, Semibreve will again host the Edigma Semibreve Award, which supports new digital artworks exploring sound, image and interactivity. Applications remain open until 28 June, with the winning work to be exhibited during the festival.
