Dalston’s Visions Video Bar to close down immediately

Visions Video Bar

The London basement venue, location on Dalston Junction, has announced that it’ll be shutting its doors.

An online statement from the team reads: “It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the immediate closure of the venue you know as Visions. We’ve had some of the best times with you all and we cannot thank you enough.”

However, this won’t be the last we’ll be seeing of the team behind the venue, with the online post stating that an announcement for a “new venture” will come in the near future. Furthermore, there’ll be various Visions Presents events at other venues.

Last Saturday (18 August), the venue was closed due to refurbishment. The basement club is one of the oldest of its kind in the area. Operating in excess of 18 years, it first started out as an actual video bar before becoming a full-time club.

The closure comes amidst the clampdown on London’s nightlife. This week, Dalston club The Alibi also announced that it would be closing after eight years of service. Last month, Hackney Council voted unanimously in favour of a licensing policy that’ll force new venues, clubs, bars and pubs to close by 11pm on weekdays and 12am on weekends.
