Welcome back to Selections, a series of exclusive artist-curated Spotify playlists from those in the know.
As The Bug, Kevin Martin has made an art of chanelling urban dread and entropy through his oppressive, sub bass-heavy sound. From the dystopian 2008 debut album London Zoo, right through to his meditative but no less intense full-length collaboration Dylan Carlson of Earth, Concrete Desert, few can manipulate the tactics of noise and dub as skilfully as The Bug.
Martin’s Selections, however, showcases a different side to the artist’s listening habits. Titled ‘Hip Hop Narcotic Vol.1’, this exclusive playlist features rap and hip-hop, from golden era to the new generation, Public Enemy, Mobb Deep, and Wu-Tang Clan to Clipse and Vince Staples. Enjoy.
The Bug will play Brave! Factory Festival, Kiev, 23-24 August.
