Bristol festival Simple Things took over the city last weekend (20 October) for a triumphant edition.

Split into separate Day and Night programmes for the first time, the sprawling programme offered a pin-drop into the future-facing music that we champion right here at Crack Magazine.

Kamaal Williams and Octavian took over SWX, Fontaines DC packed out Rough Trade, Tirzah mesmerised the crowd with Mica Levi and Coby Sey, and Black Midi played one of the most talked-about sets of the day. And that’s just the day.

As Slowdive closed out the Day programme in typically dreamy fashion, everyone took to Lakota to celebrate the festival’s second chapter. Helena Hauff, DJ Stingray, Giant Swan, Optimo, Eris Drew, Mafalda, Deena Abdelwahed and more took to the cavernous club to perform ground-shaking sets – making this edition an unforgettable year for Simple Things.

Naturally, a host of photographers were on hand to capture it all. See how the festival played out via the galleries below.
