Listen to a playlist of ‘sparkle-pop songs’ selected by Joviale
Welcome back to Selections, a series of artist-curated playlists from those in the know.
Multidisciplinary London artist Joviale creates music that feels cinematic and alive, blending pop with performance, sound design and experimental genres.
Embodying Joviale’s knack for vivid, multi-layered storytelling, their debut full-length Mount Crystal, released in September, was initially imagined as a play. Partly inspired by Prince’s Under the Cherry Moon and Lynch’s Twin Peaks, the conceptual album was co-produced with John Carroll Kirby and Jkarri, and featuers a cast of collaborators including Sam Wilkes, Carter Lang, and Will Miller.
Ahead of touring with Nourished By Time this November, here Joviale shares a playlist of “sparkle-pop songs” – tracks that, as they put it, “incorporate the kinds of glitter that can’t be defined explicitly but experienced.”
Titled “The Crystall Ball” – “imagined to be “located on Mount Crystal” – it’s for “release of intensity, tension and passion”.
