London Trans+ Pride saw 100,000 people join Saturday’s march, making it the biggest event of its kind in the world.
This year’s theme was “existence and resistance” in response to the UK Supreme Court ruling in April, which ruled that the legal definition of a woman does not include transgender women who hold gender recognition certificates.
Marching to Parliament Square Gardens, attendees held signs reading ‘Dismantle the Cis-Tem’, ‘Trans Rights Are Human Rights’ and ‘No Pride Without Trans People.’ Speakers included ‘Heartstopper’ actress Yasmin Finney, trans rights campaigner Caroline Litman and Trans+ Solidarity Alliance’s Alex Parmar-Yee.
Bobby Harding, fundraising lead for London Trans+ Pride, described the event as “a total honour,” adding, “We are more determined than ever to show up and let people know that we deserve a place on this earth, and we are entitled to dignity and privacy, as is our human right.”
Photographer Eliza Hatch was there to capture all the joy and resistance from Saturday’s record-breaking march.
