Welcome back to Selections, a series of artist-curated playlists from those in the know.

The opening line of Swank Mami’s debut EP Eurostar – which sees her declare “Swank is a bad bitch” atop sultry, searing bass beats – provides a bold, enticing statement: the Oslo-based artist has well and truly arrived. In a similar lane to Shygirl and Rosalía, Swank Mami makes infectiously danceable pop with themes of love and heartbreak, simultaneously creating the perfect soundtrack for “crying in the club” and channelling that Bad B*tch energy of the EP opener.

The latest addition to Swank Mami’s repertoire, Eurostar follows on from the dusky R&B of her debut single Venus Retrograde, which she released just last year. On the EP, Swank Mami invites listeners into a journey through a spectrum of emotions – her music acting as an intimate space for tender, emotional catharsis that explores feelings of invisibility and desire via heady, club-facing pop and slick R&B.

For her Selections playlist, Swank Mami gives us insight into some of the inspirations and influences on the EP. “Here are some songs that inspired the making of Eurostar”, she tells us, “I’m so happy to finally share what I’ve been working on”. Listen below.
