Offering a perfect musical backdrop to the early chapters of summertime, we’re excited to have New York DJ and producer Anthony Naples step up for Crack Mix 145.

He’s long been a quiet master of versatility – adept at drifting from glistening melodic disco into choppier house and techno then right back round again. A number of fabrics and shades which exist in Naples’ record collection can be found across these 90 minutes.

Moving from NYC to California to Berlin across the space of a few years, the breadth of sounds on show here is no surprise. Naples captures a low-slung groove for the first third – hazy, summery sounds that slowly edge into something slightly more rugged.

Gorgeous anthems like Willie Colon’s Set Fire To Me share airtime with deeper, tougher choices. Showing love to Mister Saturday Night (who he’s released through in the past), Naples also plays Nebraska’s Done My Best, an irresistible floor-filler which the label released last year. The New York City tones continue in to the final quarter where a deep mix of Underground Solution’s Luv Dancin’ feels alluringly nostalgic without sounding at all retrogressive.
