unfold: Kahn + Neek at Arnolfini, Bristol

In April, we kicked off unfold in partnership with Japanese beer brand Asahi Super Dry, a series of four events celebrating innovative strands in Japanese underground electronic music. Tickets are free, you just have to sign up.

At each event, one room houses ORION – an audiovisual art installation by Japan-France art studio NONOTAK. In Bristol, we brought the party to the city’s premier alternative art space, the Arnolfini. In our main room three leading performers in contemporary electronic music provided an immersive soundtrack that kept people dancing. Get a taste for the party here.

Kiki Hitomi, the experimental dub artist perhaps best known as part of King Midas Sound with The Bug, played alongside hometown heroes Kahn + Neek. Both operating on the experimental fringes of dub, they brought a bass-weight futurism to the gallery.

For their unfold mix, Kahn + Neek continue that agenda with 60 minutes of heat spanning cutting-edge Japanese cuts and street-level UK anthems. Listen to the mix in the player above.

Join as at the final unfold party at Live Art Bistro in Leeds on Friday 7 June with Andrew Weatherall and Kenji Takimi. Sign up for free tickets here.
