Coming from the sometimes-predictable world of drum and bass, Silent Dust’s sound only bears a subtle relation to the bass music staple from which they originated. and they owe more to liquid stylings from the likes of Marcus Intalex and Calibre, both of whom have remixed tracks on their self-titled debut album. The production duo’s sound is spacious, deep and bassy, even recalling the warmth of Burial and the album moves like a series of introspective snapshots, becoming more satisfying still on second and third listens. A prime example of fresh innovation in bass music.
