Jesse Boykins III might have already released three albums, and by the strict criteria laid down in the title of this feature segment ‘New Music’, he probably doesn’t belong in here. But we’ve fallen borderline in love after our time with him at Sonar. With a voice that has drawn comparisons to D’Angelo and a personality smoother than Andre 3000 in a blender, his R’n’B credentials are given heftier weight on his more electronic productions, particularly on last year’s Way Of A Wayfarer EP produced by Gold Panda.
