August 2015 Playlist
G-funk is in the air. Dre just casually dropped his first album in 16 years, Warren G has released a sequel EP to Regulate with unheard vocals from Nate Dogg and while Compton rapper YG might claim he’s “the only one who made it out the west without Dre” on Twist My Fingaz, there’s absolutely no question who inspired the single’s bass-heavy bounce and vocoder vocals. But let’s not squabble, the track is fucking good regardless. So good, in fact, that we listened to it five times the other day.
If you can bring yourself to listen to anything else on this month’s playlist, then you’ll find Mike WiLL Made It give Young Thug some polish without spoiling his bizarre appeal, Beach House provide pure aural bliss, Tim Presley and Cate Le Bon team up as Drinks and Young Echo member Ossia make one hell of a mark with his first solo release. Enjoy.
