Selections: Archie Hamilton

Welcome back to Selections, a series of exclusive artist-curated Spotify playlists from those in the know.

Known for placing the sounds of UK rave culture within a more contemporary frame, Archie Hamilton’s dynamic sets have carved him an international reputation via a long-running residency with events brand FUSE, regular appearances at Fabric and slots at international festivals. The musician has also flexed entrepreneurial muscles as the head of label Moscow Records which he has been running for the past ten years alongside Moss Co. and Arkityp, solidifying his mainstay status on the global electronic scene.

When we asked the artist to join our Selection series, the result was a lot more tranquil than his signature hard-hitting sound. Inspired by a forthcoming slot at Caribbean festival SXM, the selector pulled together a playlist of 10 downtempo tracks. As Hamilton explains over email, the selection of blues, tropical-dub and ambient house is intended to “represent and soundtrack island chill-out in paradise”.

Featuring the sounds of Quantic, DJ Day, Horace Andy, Paqua and Steve Miller, Hamilton’s playlist is a trip to warmer climes. Press play and be transported.

Archie Hamilton plays at SXM Festival, St Martin, 13-17 March
