Selections: Ferro

Welcome back to Selections, a series of exclusive artist-curated Spotify playlists from those in the know.

Next up we have Ferro: selector, producer and A&R/resident at VBX. Across each of these facets of his career there emerges a picture of an enviable work ethic and a palpable joy in warm, slick sounds. His releases at home with VBX and further afield with Oscillat, Lessizmore and Infuse tread the line between house and techno but are bound by a dusty wheeze that accompanies each pound of a kick drum on each of his releases.

At the end of the month he joins a host of stellar names in deep, sharp club sounds at the inaugural UNUM festival in Albania, where the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Craig Richards, Margaret Dygas, Sonja Moonear and Zip represent the razor’s edge of the festival’s minimal brief. Before he sets off, however, we’ve pinned him down to select a clutch of tracks that represent another mood entirely.

Speaking via email, Ferro describes the playlist as “music that I listen to at home, music that inspires me.” Check out the playlist below for a trip through jazz, downtempo and modern classical, including warm and ghostly sounds from the likes of Yussef Kamaal, Burnt Friedman and more.

Ferro plays at UNUM Festival, Albania, 31 May to 3 June
