The full schedule of guest-curated programmes have been announced for Le Guess Who? 2019.
The Utrecht-based festival, set to take place from 7-10 November, will host programmes curated by Malian singer-songwriter Fatoumata Diawara and Iris van Herpen & Salvador Breed. Final additions have also been made to the line-ups curated by psychedelic rock band Moon Duo, producer The Bug, and composer Patrick Higgins.
Fatoumata Diawara’s selection for the boundary-crossing music festival revolves around Afrocubism and Afrofuturism, with her line-up comprising artists such as rapper Master Soumy and Cuban jazz pianist Roberto Fonseca.
In addition to this, The Bug has invited Stockholm-based minimalist Kali Malone for a unique organ concert and has announced a personal performance with grime MC Flowdan.
Furthermore, Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen and her partner Salvador Breed have invited American sound artist Holly Herndon to present her new, acclaimed album, PROTO. The pair will also host indie-rock group Efterklang, electronic duo Amnesia Scanner and rapper, performance artist, poet and activist Mykki Blanco.
Importantly, Le Guess Who? work with The Dutch Council for Refugees, running a Grant an Entry initiative. The scheme allows visitors to buy an additional day ticket for a refugee residing in The Netherlands who would like to attend the festival, although cannot afford to do so.
