South London music and performing arts duo c / a will release their debut album in July. Across the new LP, which is titled The Only Way We Know How To Have Fun, the pair look to previously explored interests such as AI, film, software programming and digital arts as they meld experimental electronics and abstract genre mutations with medieval and Gaelic samples.
The album leads with the single Docile Goetica. It’s said to be inspired by “the idea of geospatial portals conjured through sound to reveal fragments of a love story and benevolent celestial intermediaries between God and humanity.” Later this year, the pair will reimagine the album as a live audiovisual show. The project will be performed under the name of the fictional entity, England’s Council of Legislation and Governing Body of Hyper Real Simulations and Constructs.
c / a were among the artists picked by Creative Europe-funded platform SHAPE for its 2020 edition. They joined the likes of Afrodeutsche, object blue, Oli XL, VTSS, Lyzza, Schacke, Virgen Maria and more on the platform’s roster last year. Find out more about SHAPE here.
